Vietnamese airlines ramp up flights for Reunification Day holiday

Vietnamese airlines have planned 7,536 flights for the upcoming Reunification Day (April 30) and May 1 holiday, up around 24 percent compared to usual.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), Vietnamese airlines have proactively prepared flight plans to meet the rising demand during the April 30-May 1 holiday and this year’s summer peak.

Between April 25 and May 5, Vietnamese airlines plan to operate 7,536 domestic flights, equal to 685 flights per day, up 24 percent from the original schedule and 21 percent year-on-year. They are expected to offer around 1.5 million seats, representing increases of 20 percent and 22 percent, respectively.

Among the flights scheduled during this period, those to and from HCM City will account for the largest share, with 5,083 flights, up 21 percent from the original schedule. Meanwhile, 1,261 flights are slated for Hanoi-HCM City, up 8 percent from the original plan.

Over the summer peak of 2025 (May 15 to August 15), Vietnamese airlines are set to run 68,558 domestic flights with nearly 14 million seats. Flights to tourist destinations such as Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, and Quy Nhon will account for over 20,000 flights, making up around 30 percent of the total domestic operations.

Vietnam will enjoy a five-day break from April 30 to May 4 for Reunification Day (April 30) and May 1 holiday.
