Vietnam Railways Corporation has announced a 3 per cent increase in passenger train fares and a 3-5 per cent rise in freight charges from April 5, following a sharp increase in domestic fuel prices.
Passengers who purchased tickets before the adjustment will retain the original fares to ensure their benefits are not affected.

The most recent fare adjustment took place on March 26, when diesel prices rose to VND 37,890 per litre (about USD 1.48 per litre).
To meet travel demand during the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day and the extended Reunification Day (April 30)-May Day holidays, the railway sector has also introduced additional passenger services on key routes.
On the Saigon-Quy Nhon route, train SE30 will depart from Saigon Station on April 24, 25, 29, 30 and May 1, while train SE29 will operate from Quy Nhon Station to Saigon on April 26, 27, 30 and May 2 and May 3.
On the Saigon-Nha Trang route, train SNT4 will depart from Saigon Station on April 24, 29 and 30, with an additional service, SNT6, running on April 29.
For the Nha Trang-Saigon route, train SNT5 will depart from Nha Trang Station on April 27 and May 2-3, while train SNT3 will operate on May 2.
During peak travel periods, passengers are advised to arrive at stations 30 minutes to one hour before departure to avoid missing their trains.
Travellers should carry compact luggage, with each ticket allowing up to 20 kilogrammes, and are responsible for their belongings. Passengers are also required to follow instructions from railway staff and avoid carrying prohibited items.
