Vietnam invites foreign delegations to attend National Day celebration

The Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam has sent invitations to the defence ministries of eight countries to attend a grand celebration marking 80 years of the National Day (September 2).

The eight countries are Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.

Among those countries, Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, and Belarus were invited to send military contingents to participate in a military parade during the celebration.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defence, revealed the information at a meeting on defence diplomacy in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, held in Hanoi on July 9.  

According to Chien, Cuba has responded to the invitation, confirming that the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba would attend the celebration in Hanoi.

Laos and Cambodia have also expressed support for sending their military contingents to join the parade, in response to Vietnam’s invitation.

Vietnam’s invitations to five countries to engage in the parade demonstrate the traditional friendship, solidarity, and close bonds between the Vietnamese people and military and their longstanding international friends, said Chien.

It also reaffirms Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, and diversification of external relations, while being a friend and reliable partner to all countries, added the senior military officer.
