Vietnam among top dream destinations for UK travellers

Vietnam has ranked among the top 20 countries that British travellers most aspire to visit, according to a recent survey.

A study by Staysure, based on responses from 2,000 travellers in the United Kingdom, found that New Zealand topped the list with 24 per cent, followed by Japan at 23 per cent and Australia at 18 per cent.

Among the 50 most desired destinations, Vietnam ranked 15th, placing it among the highest in Southeast Asia.

Within the region, Thailand ranked 11th, followed by Vietnam. Singapore placed 17th, while the Philippines ranked 36th, Malaysia 38th, Cambodia 47th and Indonesia 49th.

At the bottom of the list, Belgium ranked last among the 50 countries British travellers would most like to visit for the first time.

“Our customers often share stories about places they have visited and plan to explore next. It is encouraging to see that people continue to dream about discovering the world,” a Staysure representative said.

According to the latest data from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, international arrivals to Vietnam reached 6.76 million in the first quarter of the year, up 12.4 per cent year on year.

In March alone, despite disruptions to several international flight routes due to conflict in the Middle East, long haul markets from Europe to Vietnam continued to grow compared with the same period last year.

The report also highlighted steady growth across key markets, with travellers from the United Kingdom consistently ranking among Vietnam’s leading European source markets, supported by visa exemption policies.

In the first three months of the year, arrivals from the United Kingdom reached 127,241. Experts say British travellers tend to stay longer and spend more, with a strong preference for experiential travel and exploring cultural and historical sites.

The first quarter also saw positive growth from North American and Oceania markets, including the United States, where arrivals rose 17 per cent, Canada up 24.2 per cent, Australia up 18.4 per cent and New Zealand up 19.4 per cent.
