The automated immigration system at Tan Son Nhat International Airport will undergo installation and upgrades, with outbound lanes temporarily closed.

During the suspension, border police will deploy officers at registration areas to assist passengers and prioritise exit procedures for those already enrolled in the system, including holders of ABTC cards and temporary residence permits.
Inbound autogates will remain fully operational, with five additional gates installed to improve processing capacity and reduce waiting times.
The autogate system, introduced in August 2023 by the Immigration Department Vietnam, is designed to streamline passenger clearance and ease congestion at passport control.
It operates through a two-step process in which travellers scan their passport and boarding pass before undergoing facial recognition and fingerprint verification. Once confirmed, the gate opens automatically without direct officer interaction or passport stamping.
