Quang Binh Province's authorities have given the go-ahead for construction of what could be the world’s longest zipline at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park home to renowned Son Doong Cave.

The work will cover 35 hectares, linking Nuoc Mooc stream and the entrance of the Toi (Darkness) Cave and running 3.5km above the Chay River, said Phu Sa Do Tourism and Commerce Joint Stock Company, the project investor.

The VND300 billion (USD13.2 million) project is expected to help develop adventure tourism products and adventure sports along the zip line such as a pedestrian bridge, windsurfing, kayaking and indoor climbing.

The zip line will offer a new chance for tourists to explore Phong Nha’s forests.

Quang Binh believes the site could contribute some VND20 billion (USD881,057) to the province’s finances.

The investor claimed it would comply with forest conservation and natural landscape protection during the construction process.
