The Barbie transformation trend, popular among young users on TikTok, has been embraced by several Vietnamese beauty queens, including Ngoc Chau and Thanh Thuy, drawing widespread attention.
Thanh Thuy's video, created by makeup artists Quan Nguyen and Pu Le, quickly gained traction thanks to its creative concept and her striking visuals.
In the clip, Thanh Thuy appears sealed inside a plastic toy bag, posing as a doll. She is then unboxed and given a final makeup touch-up by the two stylists. Her cold, rigid expressions throughout the video contributed to its distinctive appeal. Although many other beauty influencers have joined the trend, Thanh Thuy's version stood out, attracting more than 8 million views and hundreds of comments within a short time.
Viewers praised her performance with comments such as: "Her face is so beautiful and flawless," "Truly a Miss Vietnam golden ratio," "Perfect expressions, like a real doll," and "She looks like a living Barbie." These reactions highlighted both her acting talent and striking beauty.
Quan Nguyen and Pu Le revealed that the video was shot during Thanh Thuy's recent appearance at the Miss International Singapore 2025 Grand Finale, which took place last weekend.
"We started makeup from 4 am to 6 am, right before she had to catch her flight," Quan said. "We'd been following the Barbie transformation trend and thought it would be fun to try it out with Thuy. We wanted to share something lighthearted and joyful."
Despite the tight schedule and minimal preparation, only 15 minutes were available for final adjustments. The team was thrilled with the positive response.
"Thuy's facial proportions are ideal, so this trend suited her perfectly," Quan added.
Following her reign as Miss Vietnam 2022, Thanh Thuy has maintained a busy schedule in her current role as Miss International 2024.
Most recently, she flew to the United States to attend the Miss International USA 2025 finale. From there, she travelled to Guatemala, then arrived in Singapore on July 19 for the Miss International Singapore 2025 event. Before that, she visited the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Thanh Thuy is the first Vietnamese beauty to be crowned Miss International. Over the next four months, she is set to participate in a series of events before handing over the crown to her successor at the Miss International 2025 grand finale, scheduled for November 27 in Japan.
