The second phase of the Bason Park project, covering 10 hectares along the Saigon River, is expected to become a modern riverside square and green space in the heart of the city.

Workers are speeding up construction of key infrastructure items, with the project scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2026.

Several internal roads and green areas have begun to take shape, giving the park its initial outline, while machinery and equipment have been deployed for the next phase of construction.

Aerial views show multiple components being built simultaneously.

Located opposite the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens and near Bach Dang Wharf, the project will feature a riverside square, pedestrian streets, parks and a marina, expanding green space in central Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the 2021 to 2030 master plan, with a vision to 2050, prioritises developing the Saigon River corridor with 42 new riverside parks to expand public space and enhance the city’s riverfront character.

Despite the Saigon River running more than 80 km through the city, riverside parks remain scarce. Integrated waterfront developments are emerging as a way to meet growing demand for leisure and public space.

Experts say a connected network of riverside parks would give Ho Chi Minh City new green lungs and boost its tourism, services and urban culture, similar to models in Singapore and Bangkok.
