A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed recently between the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Centre and Intrepid Vietnam Travel Company Limited.
Under the signed document, the two sides agreed to jointly implement destination marketing activities and sustainable tourism product development, aiming to create appealing, safe, and eco-conscious travel products while popularising the city’s image on the international stage.
"As global tourism increasingly prioritizes sustainability and responsibility, this partnership with Intrepid Vietnam is a practical move to enhance our industry’s competitiveness. We aim to drive innovation, improve visitor experience and length of stay, strengthen regional tourism linkages, and most importantly, project the image of Ho Chi Minh City as a vibrant, responsible, and future-forward destination," said Le Truong Hien Hoa, deputy director of HCM City Department of Tourism.
Within the framework of cooperation, Intrepid Vietnam will invite leading experts from its global network—including brands like Exodus (UK), Wild Frontiers (UK), Sawadee (Netherlands), Intrepid DMC (Australia), Auswalk (Australia), and Side Tour (Turkey), to join the International Buyer Program at the Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC) 2025, offering Vietnamese travel businesses greater opportunities to connect with global travel corporations.
In addition, HCM City and Intrepid Vietnam will promote the development of tourism products in the southeast region to attract more tourists to HCM City, including Lo Go-Xa Mat bicycle tour, Tay Ninh trekking and bicycle tour, Nam Cat Tien forest discovery tour, and others.
"Ho Chi Minh City plays a pivotal role in Intrepid’s destination network in Vietnam, not only for its vibrant urban culture but also as a gateway to responsible tourism experiences. Intrepid Vietnam is committed to working alongside the city’s tourism sector to develop community-based, environmentally friendly travel products aligned with global trends. We believe that combining international expertise with local insight will generate real value for travelers, businesses, and local communities," said Nguyen Thanh Hanh, general director of Intrepid Vietnam.
Intrepid co-founder Geoff Manchester shared that Vietnam is one of the key destinations in Intrepid's global network, noting that most Intrepid travelers include Ho Chi Minh City as a key stop in their journeys.
Manchester said that Ho Chi Minh City is a dynamic and ambitious city, poised to become a financial, technology, and innovation hub in Southeast Asia. He noted that there are tremendous opportunities not only from new infrastructure and administrative expansion but also from the city's potential to reshape tourism in a greener, fairer, and more inclusive direction. If developed properly, he added, responsible tourism could play a key role in helping the city realize its vast potential.
