As the city's largest wholesale flower supplier, Quang An flower market has started selling peach blossoms for Tet.

Most of the peach trees and branches here come from gardens in Nhat Tan Ward, which have long been famous for growing the most beautiful peach blossom variety.

A trader at Quang An Market said that more people wanted to decorate their homes with peach blossoms early, but supplies were still limited, so prices were high.

A small branch of peach blossoms is sold at VND70,000, while larger branches have prices of between VND150,000-300,000. Branches of some two metres long may cost up to VND700,000-900,000.

A customer, Pham Thi Tuoi, said she bought a small peach branch to put on the ancestral altar.
"Peach blossoms are the symbol of Tet, and I like the Tet atmosphere, so I decided to bring a small branch home early," she said. "I'll buy another bigger branch later when there are more to choose from."

Many people have also visited gardens in Nhat Tan to buy peach blossoms from farmers.

A local farmer, Nguyen Duong, said they would have more stock in three weeks.

Peach branches and trees are also displayed for sale at stalls along Au Co Street. Traders here said that many branches were brought here from the northern mountainous Son la Province.
