According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, Danang branch (ACV Danang), the biometric identification system is the latest digital upgrade at the airport and is currently available to passengers flying with Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air.

Using Face ID through the VNeID app, passengers can pass security checkpoints and boarding gates without presenting a physical ID card.

The technology is part of a broader push to digitise and automate airport services, which also includes Auto Gate for immigration, self-service bag drop, self-check-in kiosks, auto-boarding gates, video call kiosks, and multilingual information screens.

Danang is the first airport in Vietnam to implement fully automated services from check-in to boarding.

Currently, Danang International Airport operates 24 direct air routes, including 16 international connections, and handles about 112 flights per day. It is designed to accommodate up to 28 million passengers and 200,000 tonnes of cargo annually by 2030.

In 2024, the airport welcomed 13.4 million passengers, including 6.2 million international travellers, and processed 32,400 tonnes of cargo, generating total revenue of VND 1.6 trillion (approximately USD 64 million).

Expansion and infrastructure upgrades are planned for the 2026–2028 period to boost capacity to 14 million passengers per year.

ACV Danang is also working with AIAIVN to launch a multilingual chatbot that supports communication in 50 languages, enhancing passenger experience.
