After 18 months of construction, the lake, also known as Hoang Cau Lake, in O Cho Dua Ward has taken on a modern appearance. Landscaped grounds and a new lighting system have made it a popular destination for evening walks and daily exercise.

The renovation project was launched in July 2024 with total investment of nearly VND 300 billion.

The site is now close to full completion and has opened to the public, with pavements, railings and lighting systems largely finished.

A highlight is a floating stage and seating area on the lake near Hoang Cau Street, which has been completed and opened to visitors.

Dong Da Lake covers about 12.5 hectares and features a 1,900-metre embankment. It is bordered by Hoang Cau Street to the east and south-east, and by Dang Tien Dong and Mai Anh Tuan streets running around the lake.

Surrounding roads total about 1,270 metres in length, with an average width of around 6.5 metres.

“After the renovation, the lake looks much cleaner and more beautiful. The widened lakeside space and modern lighting make it more convenient for people to exercise and relax every day,” said Tien, a local resident.

Safety railings combining stainless steel frames and tempered glass have been installed, while the lighting system has been upgraded with newer, more colourful fixtures.

Some LED and coloured lights around the lake and floating stage are already in operation, creating a more vibrant atmosphere, although the full system is not yet active.

Once fully completed, Dong Da Lake is expected to become a new urban landmark, attracting visitors and providing a venue for major public events in central O Cho Dua ward.
