Huynh Ba Luc and his wife To Thao Uyen, both born in 1993, said their love of nature and new experiences inspired them to build the vehicle themselves. They had travelled by motorbike for years, but bulky gear made long trips difficult and unsafe.
Luc said the idea emerged after he watched overseas truck-bed camping videos. With an unused family truck, the couple carried out the month-long conversion for about VND30 million (USD 1,140), ensuring it met inspection and safety standards.

The couple's mobile house
The interior has a minimalist layout with basic amenities. Cooking, working and sleeping spaces are combined in one compact area, supported by storage shelves and a foldable mattress.
Since completion, the mobile home has taken them on several trips, including a nearly 2,000-kilometre journey from Danang to Mang Den and Dalat, returning via coastal routes in Dak Lak and Gia Lai. It serves as both transport and accommodation, offering flexibility and a close-up view of local life.

Each journey brings the young couple fresh experiences
During visits to remote highland areas, the couple also donate clothing and essential items to residents facing hardship. Luc recently helped deliver 1,000 books to children in Nam Tra My Commune to support their learning.
After more than a year and a half with their home on wheels, Luc said the experience has taught them to slow down, appreciate each moment and share more with others.

The couple recently welcomed twins and have paused their travels to focus on childcare. Luc said they plan to resume their journeys once the babies are older, taking them along to explore new places in their mobile home.
