Belgian King and Queen visit free bakery vocational school in HCM City on April 3.
The Bakery School Vietnam is sponsored and operated by the Bakery School Foundation, an initiative by the Puratos Group, to train professional bakers in the fields of bread, pastry, and chocolate.
This is the 11th establishment in the global network of 13 Bakery Schools. Bakery School Vietnam represents Puratos' mission to provide opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who aspire to build careers in the bakery industry. This initiative stems from Puratos’ commitment to a brighter planet, better lives, and healthier futures.
During their visit to the free vocational bakery school, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde enjoyed pastries prepared by 39 students and instructors of Bakery School Vietnam. The students blended ingredients and specialties from Northern, Central, and Southern Vietnam to create both traditional and innovative desserts.
The King and Queen also engaged directly with the students, discussing their learning experiences and future aspirations.
The visit marks the first time King Philippe has visited Vietnam as the head of the Belgian monarchy, following three visits as Crown Prince in 1993, 2003, and 2012. Queen Mathilde had previously visited Vietnam in 2023.
