Although No-Stopping and No-Parking signs have been placed along Bach Dang, Dang Van Sam, Hau Giang, and some other streets around the Tan Son Nhat Airport, violations continue.
Despite a sign saying No Parking between 6 am-10 pm on Bach Dang Street, many cars use the road to park.
This is a crowded residential area with many apartment buildings and schools, so illegal parking poses many dangers to local people.
Some residents complain that many cars, mostly taxis, are parked along the entrances to apartment buildings or even in front of their houses.
"Traffic jams often occurred due to the illegal parking on this street," a resident, Nguyen Van Vinh, said. "Some collisions have happened when people tried to weave through the narrow street."
A taxi driver, Pham Duy Ha, said most taxis stop along Tan Son Nhat Airport streets to wait for passengers.
"There is a parking area at the end of Bach Dang Street that leads to the airport, but it is often full," Ha said. "So we usually stop on the streets and wait for a lot in the parking area and then wait there to pick up passengers."
The same scene was seen on Dang Van Sam Street, where taxis and mini buses were parked on the road.
Hau Giang and Huynh Lan Khanh streets also face the same situation.
Tan Binh District Police Department claim they have conducted more patrols to deal with illegal parking on the streets around Tan Son Nhat Airport between 6 am and 6 pm.
"Since mid-November last year, we've dealt with 205 parking and stopping violations in this area, collecting nearly VND140 million in fines," the department said.
