According to the Thua Thien-Hue Forest Protection Department, people from Thuan An Town and Phu Loc District have handed over six rare animals to the agency since early November alone. They include four reticulated pythons, one central Vietnamese flower-back box turtle, and one Javan pangolin.

The reticulated python is listed under Group IIB of Vietnam's endangered, precious, and rare forest animals.
The central Vietnamese flower-back box turtle, classified under Group IB, is a rare species in Vietnam's Red Book and the IUCN Red List. It requires strict conservation and protection measures.
Meanwhile, the Javan pangolin, classified under Group IB of endangered and rare forest animals, is also listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
