On April 22-23, the northern region of Vietnam will continue to see hot weather, with the highest temperatures ranging between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius. Some areas may see temperatures rising to over 38 degrees Celsius.
Central localities from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen will have temperatures of 36-38 degrees Celsius and the lowest humidity of 45-60 degrees Celsius.
The Central Highlands and southern region have also witnessed heat waves, peaking at 35-36 degrees Celsius. Some areas even have temperatures of more than 36 degrees Celsius.
The heat in the north is expected to ease from April 24, while hot weather from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen may decline from April 25. The Central Highlands and southern regions will struggle with prolonged heat in the coming days.
The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that northern localities are likely to be impacted by two weak late-season cold spells, which will result in scattered showers and thunderstorms on April 23-25 and around April 27-28.
The weather agency warns that this is the transitional season across the country, so people should remain alert. Thunderstorms may bring whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong gusts.
In the upcoming month (April 21- May 20), average temperatures nationwide are close to the long-term average for the same period. Overall rainfall will also be near average, except in the central and south-central regions, where it may be 10-30 percent lower than usual.
