HCM City has spent VND5 billion (USD200,000) to renovate graffiti-covered works, including Bui Huu Nghia, Thu Thiem, Calmette, Ong Lanh, and Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge and Nguyen Huu Canh, Van Thanh, and Dien Bien Phu tunnels.

The bridges and tunnels have been painted with graffiti for many years despite being repainted several times.

According to a Road Infrastructure Management Centre representative, the tunnel will be coated with an anti-graffiti coating. If graffiti is stained or defaced, it can be easily cleaned with a water spray or wiping cloth.

The 130-year-old Mong Bridge in District 1 is among the works hardest hit by graffiti.

Graffiti on Thu Thiem Bridge is being erased. Work is also underway at Khanh Hoi Bridge’s tunnel.

Besides offering immediate rewards to people who report graffiti, HCM City authorities have intensified patrols and taken action against violators by imposing fines and requiring them to repair the damage.
