Many bears at the Vietnam Bear Sanctuary in Tam Dao National Park are enjoying the Tet Lunar New Year with their favourite food.

Staff members at the centre have carefully arranged fresh fruits and traditional chung cakes stuffed with honey, jam, and nuts on the trees as special gifts for the bears living here during Tet.

According to head of the Communications Department at Animals Asia Organisation, Phan Thi Thuy Trinh, they are decorating the bear houses twice a day to entertain them with the new environments.

"During Tet, we're decorating their houses with apples, tomatoes, persimmons, and chung cakes stuffed with some of their favourite food like honey and jam," Trinh said. "We hope this will make it more fun. The bears will easily find what they like while exploring around."

The Vietnam Bear Sanctuary in Tam Dao National Park is now home to hundreds of bears which are living in a semi-natural area of some 3,000 square metres. The bears were rescued from various bear farms nationwide where they used to be raised for bile exploitation.
