Viet Flight Training School is opened at Rach Gia Airport in the southern province of Kien Giang on January 4

At the opening ceremony on January 4, the school was given a Level-1 Approved Training Organisation (ATO1) certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, which allows them to provide Private Pilot License (PPL) training courses. ATO1, which allows theory and basic flight practice training in Vietnam, will help shorten the training time abroad and reduce cost for students.

On this occasion, Viet Flight Training School received the first 12 students attending the first PPL course.

The Viet Flight Training School was established by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines in 2008, aiming to train and supply between 50–60% of pilots with international standards for Vietnam Airlines and the country's aviation sector, reducing financial burden to airlines as well as the national budget for civil pilot training activities.

Earlier in 2011 and 2013, the Viet Flight Training School received Level-3 ATO and Level-2 ATO certificates to provide pilot training in theory and virtual cabins. During 2021–2022, the school coordinated with foreign partners to train more than 1,000 trainees from 10 countries, becoming the largest civil pilot supplier for the domestic aviation sector.
