According to the Chairman of Binh Chau Commune People's Committee, Phung Ba Vuong, the captain of the fishing boat QNg 95739TS, Nguyen Thanh Bien, has informed local authorities that his boat was attacked by a foreign ship while operating at the Paracel Islands, which belong to Vietnam.

"During a phone call to us, the captain informed us that ten crew members on his fishing boat were injured in the attack, including three with broken arms or legs," Vuong said. "He also said he had contacted a local maritime rescue centre for support."

The official also said that the Vessel Monitoring Systems can see the QNg 95739TS moving to shore at a speed of six nautical miles per hour. It is expected to reach Quang Ngai City on October 1.

The boat left Sa Ky Border Guard Station in Quang Ngai City at 10.45 am on September 13, with ten crew members on board.
