Ha Huong, a staff member of a South Korean firm in the central province of Ha Tinh, has just shared that she would be given a gift worth VND1.10 million and a day off on the Mid-Autumn Festival this year.

"Our managers have decided to give us one day off so that we can have more time with our families and children for this festival," Huong said. "We'll also be given some money and mooncakes."

Huong said she was surprised to receive the bonus this year as only a few companies bother.

"This is the first time we've had bonuses and a day off for this festival," she said. "Normally, we only get state-regulated festivals, including Tet Lunar New Year Festival, Hung Kings Temple Festival, National Day, and May Day."

Speaking to Dantri/Dtinews, an employee at a Hanoi-based real estate company, Hoa Binh, said she would also receive mooncakes worth VND500,000 and a day off on the Mid-Autumn Festival this year.

"In previous years, we were only given mooncakes on the Mid-Autumn Festival, but this year, we'll be given a day off," Binh said. "It's great to have time to enjoy the festival, which is considered a family festival."

Nguyen Phuong Thao, the owner of an electronics firm in Bac Ninh, said his company would give employees a day off for the Mid-Autumn Festival this year.

"Although the Mid-Autumn Festival isn't a state holiday, it's a popular festival, especially among children, so we'll give our employees a day off so they can have more time for their children," Thao said. "Those who still go to work on this day will get 150 percent higher pay than normal."

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a children's festival and an opportunity for families to spend time together. It is also a chance for children to have fun participating in street activities and receive toys and mooncakes as gifts.

The festival falls on September 17 this year.
