The HCM City Buddhist Sangha will work with municipal concerned agencies to discuss the number of participants as the city’s Covid-19 pandemic remains complicated.

The event will see the participation of representatives of the city’s management agencies.

To date, Vietnam has recorded a total of 22,300 Covid-19 deaths, including 16,600 in HCM City.

Earlier, the HCM City High Command set up a task force to help hand over the ashes of around 10,000 deceased Covid-19 cases to their families.

All funeral services for people who die from Covid are funded by the Ho Chi Minh City budget.

Nguyen Toan Thang, Director of the city Department of Environment and Natural Resources, said each family would receive VND17 million (USD740) to cover transportation, cremation and delivery of the ashes to them.
