A bridge to be built across the Saigon River
The Department of Planning and Architecture was assigned to select an architectural design for the bridge which will connect Bach Dang Park in District 1 and Thu Thiem New Urban Area in District 2.
According to the committee, the bridge will have separate lanes for pedestrians and bicyclists. There will be supporting equipment for elderly and disabled people.
The design must also ensure artistic values and harmony with surrounding scenery, the committee said.
In particular, the designer should study the combination of the existing transport system and the future developments at Ton Duc Thang Street and Bach Dang Park projects which will soon be completed.
The design should also take into account supporting facilities on the two sides of the bridge including parking areas, food and drink stalls and public WCs.
