The Aroma Beach restaurant has closed from February 7 for the investigations.
The move came following a meeting held on February 6 between representatives from Nha Trang City People's Committee and the restaurant's owner, Ho Van Tam.
At the meeting, Tam failed to show papers required for the operations of his restaurant including food hygiene and safety certificates, employees training certificates, and health certificates of the restaurant's owner and the staff members.
Aroma Beach has also been found to have violations in the dish price listing on their menus.
The investigations into Aroma Beach were conducted after some Chinese tourists complained on social media about being overcharged when dining at the restaurant.
A Facebook account named Minh Ha shared on February 4 an information posted by a Chinese tourist who complained about her group being overcharged at Aroma Beach.
According to the Chinese tourist, they were charged VND1,890,000 for a dish of grilled eggplant with onion, VND 500,000 for a dish of stir-fried morning glory with garlic, VND325,000 for a bowl of chicken or beef noodles, VND250,000 for a bowl of steamed rice, and VND100,000 for a can of coke or Tiger beer.
Explaining to local authorities, Ho Van Tam admitted that the group of about 20 Chinese tourists came to his restaurant on the evening of February 3 and they had discussed with them before preparing the food and the dishes were made bigger for a large group so had higher prices.
Tam also said that they had also agreed not to collect nearly VND5 million in holiday surcharges and the group only paid over VND12 million instead of over VND20 million as said in the bill.
