Vietnam pledges to spare no effort to join hands with Denmark for the success of the United Nations climate change conference in Copenhagen (COP 15) and the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 5), said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Monday in Hanoi while receiving Danish Ambassdor Peter Lysholt Hansen.

Ambassador Peter Lysholt Hansen informed PM Nguyen Tan Dung about the recent progress in the final climate talks where developed countries offered strong commitments to cutting emissions and raising financial assistance in their effort to tackle climate change.
As the host of COP 15, Denmark is responsible for connecting political opinions of all countries and wants to seek Vietnam’s support for successful formation of the agreements at the conference, said the guest.
Ambassador Peter Lysholt Hansen also expressed his pleasure that the Vietnamese PM is among the earliest leaders agreeing to attend COP 15.
According to PM Nguyen Tan Dung, all countries should bear the responsibilities to realize the Kyoto Protocol in line with their capacities and industrialised countries should take the lead in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and assisting developing countries to cope with and adapt to impacts of climate change.
The Vietnamese Government chief suggested that the international community should set up a joint coordinating organisation on climate change and establish a special assistance program for developing and underdeveloped countries which are badly hit by climate change and sea level rise.
It is necessary for developed countries to transfer new and green technologies for developing countries, including Vietnam, said the PM.
