Work on the Phu Tho Circus and Performing Arts Centre located in Phu Tho Ward has been mostly completed after more than two years of construction. Launched in April 2023, the project is targeted to become one of the city’s signature cultural landmarks.

The project covers a 10,000-square-metre site, featuring two basement levels and 12 storeys above ground, with a total floor area of about 31,000 square metres and a height of 57.5 metres.

The main auditorium can accommodate 2,000 people and features a mobile circular stage alongside a rectangular stage, forming a versatile performance space with a spiral lift system adaptable for shows with or without water.

The audience seating is upholstered in red velvet and divided into sections based on ticket prices.

A standout feature is the semi-circular pool at the centre of the circular stage, measuring 22 metres long and 5 metres deep, with a spiral lift and underwater hoists for water puppetry or, when raised, other artistic performances.

The sixth floor houses stage technology facilities, including sound and lighting control rooms, technical rooms, and a system of technical floor beams.

The seventh floor serves as the building’s technical area, housing ventilation, fire prevention and fighting, and drainage systems.

The eighth floor is home to a 300-seat rehearsal and performance hall, along with flexible rooms for both ground and aerial training.

Engineers and workers are now racing to finish the stage’s sound and lighting systems.

The grounds are landscaped with greenery and include technical rooms, ticket offices, medical facilities, kitchens, storage areas, and the circus management office.

Once operational, the centre will serve as a hub for circus and puppetry performances, as well as a venue for training, education, cross-disciplinary arts, and hosting conferences and gatherings.
