After an 8-year absence, actor Vo Hoai Nam has resumed his career by taking new role.
Explaining his return, Nam said, “Movies have become part of my being, my passion.”
In the past, Vo Hoai Nam was locally famous in Vietnam for his impressive acts in several films such as “Vua bai rac” (The King of dumping ground), and “Chuyen pho phuong” (Urban Story).

Having grown up in a poor family, the role he played in "Vua Bai Rac", was somewhat close to his real life.
Eight years ago he decided to give up the craft and moved to Ho Chi Minh City to pursue a career as a restaurateur. He returned to Hanoi in 2009 to continue his restaurant.
Although his business occupied him, Nam was still engaged in film, at least in his mind. “During those 8 years I sometimes dreamed of standing in front of cameras.”
He decided to write a film script about his own life and sent to the Vietnam Feature Film Studio, but have not heard back from them since.
But he was determined to return to the film industry. Finally, this year he was cast in a new film, Song Hung Ky Di, as the character An Phong - a humorous role. He shared, "My philosophy toward acting is not to judge my performance. I simply do my best and let the audience decide its merit."
Despite his long break, the art is still familiar to him. But one thing he\'s noticed is that the some of the rules have changed. Now the lead in a film often has to wait for minor characters, who are busy doing other projects. In the past, he says, it was the opposite.
