Sarah Chang is one of classical music's most captivating and talented contemporary performers. She will perform live in Hanoi at the Opera House for the 14th Henessy Concert on the eve of January 22. This is a great joy for music lovers in Hanoi.
Born in Philadelphia to Korean parents, Sarah Chang started learning violin at the age of 4, and shortly after, she joined the Juilliard school led by Professor Dorothy DeLay.
Sarah had an opportunity to perform with orchestras in Philadelphia within 1 year. She was recognized as a child prodigy and when she was only 8, was given the opportunity to audition with such names as Zubin Mehta and Riccardo Muti, who were working, respectively, with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Sarah Chang will also perform in London, Zurich, Moscow, St.Petersburg, Korea, Vietnam and Macau as well as other performances in North America during her world tour.
Sarah Chang was voted as one of the "Top 20 Women in Leadership" by Newsweek magazine in 2006, and named as a "Young Global Leader for 2008 by the World Economic Forum" (WEF) thanks to her career’s achievements and contributions to society, as well as potential in the future.
Also headlining this concert is pianist Andrew Von Oeyen, who has already established himself as one of the most captivating pianists of his generation. Since his debut at age 16 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Esa-Pekka Salonen, Andrew Von Oeyen has performed to critical acclaim in recitals and orchestral appearances around the world.
Von Oeven has recently appeared at London's Wigmore Hall, the Kennedy centre, Ravinia festival, “Piano en Valois” festival in France, Alice Tully, New York and more.
This year, Andrew Von Oeyen will perform at Rockefeller University in New York, Iowa University, Charleston College and in Mexico City.
He will perform with Sarah Chang on tour across Europe, US, and Asia. He will also visit Japan with the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra.
Andrew Von Oeyen began his piano studies at the age of 5 and made his solo orchestral debut at 10. An alumnus of Columbia University and graduate of The Juilliard School, where his principal teachers were Herbert Stessin and Jerome Lowenthal, he has also worked with Alfred Brendel and Leon Fleisher. He lives in New York and Paris.
This performance will mark the first appearance of the two famous artists in Vietnam.
