The nearly 200-metre street was crowded on the evening of September 14. Families brought their children to pick out lanterns and toys, while young people flocked there early to stroll around and snap check-in photos amid the dazzling, colourful atmosphere.

Dozens of closely packed stalls glow with all kinds of lanterns, from traditional to modern, creating a shimmering ribbon of colours that captivates every passerby.

Nguyen Van Duc, a lantern shop owner, said the number of visitors this year is noticeably higher than last year.

“On weekends, the street is nearly jam-packed with crowds. At times, I’m selling nonstop without a moment to catch my breath,” Duc said. Prices for small, star-shaped lanterns range from VND 20,000 to VND 30,000 each, while larger ones cost VND 100,000 to VND 200,000.

Many children accompanied their parents to the lantern street, their eyes filled with wonder as they eagerly selected their favourite lanterns.

Du Tue Minh, 19, said, “This is my first time visiting the street. Besides the traditional star-shaped lanterns, there are countless other designs. I can’t decide between a fabric-embroidered tiger lantern or a rabbit-shaped one; both are so eye-catching.”

Luong Nhu Hoc Street, home to the local Chinese community and their long-preserved craft of handmade lanterns, stays open from morning until late at night.

Some young visitors even dressed up as playful rabbits, immersing themselves in the Mid-Autumn spirit and capturing memorable photos along the lantern-lit street.
