DTiNews has just transferred nearly VND 160 million donated by readers to two women in Hai Duong Province who were facing starvation.
Vu Thi Van receives the donation
Vu Thi Van and her daughter Dinh Thi Mien live in a small house in Ly Dong Village. Van got sick while she was five-months pregnant and since then, her fingers and toes have become twisted. Her daughter also is in bad health and suffers from developmental problems.
Misfortune continued as Mien was paralysed. Her son had to drop out of school and was in a constant search for food for the whole family.
After their story was published, many people from across the country have came to their aid. Thanks to their kindness, local authorities were able to hire a doctor to treat Mien's paralysis. According to the doctor, Mien will be back to normal within one month.

A representative from DTiNews also gave them VND159,380,000 (USD7,600) in donations. Van said they have had many visitors and received more than VND100 million. She said, "I've never seen so much money. Now we can buy rice and food. Thank you."
Dinh Huu Bac, head of Ly Dong Village helped them deposit the money into fund run by Vinh Hong Commune. Because Van and Mien cannot manage the money on their own, Bac give them a monthly stipend under the supervision of communal authorities and DTiNews.
The party secretary of Vinh Hong Commune also expressed gratitude to all the people who have helped Van's family.
