A mother in Ben Tre Province is calling for help for her husband and son's illnesses in order for him to continue at school.
Nguyen Minh Tri is a hardworking pupil
Nguyen Minh Tri, an 11th grader, was diagnosed with sinusitis five years ago. Because the family do not have enough money, Tri was not treated and sinus infection spread to the brain, causing brain fever. Tri's family had to borrow money for his treatment and Tri regularly missed school.
Nguyen Minh Tam, Tri's father, has heart disease and polyarthritis after years in the military. In order to treat the illnesses, he sold two hectares of land in the new economic zone in Dong Nai Province before returning to his hometown with nothing. The family is currently staying in an unused house of Tam's cousin.

"I was a carpenter but when my health weakened, I sold lotto tickets. But over the past year, I can't do anything at all," Tri's father said.
Tri's mother, Nguyen Thi Be, sell coconut leaves for tens of thousands of VND a day.
"There were days we didn't have any rice left. My family ate bananas so that my son could continue attending semester exams. But Tri wants to drop out to find work to support the family and to treat his father's illnesses," Be said.
To Thuy Vu, head of Luong Phu Commune's Red Cross Organisation said local authorities were seeking help to build new house and to help them escape poverty.
