HCM City needs 63,000 workers for year-end orders

Businesses in HCM City need around 63,000 workers in the final months of the year, a nine percent increase compared to the same period last year.

The information was provided by Nguyen Bao Cuong, head of the Labour, Wages, and Social Insurance Department under the city’s Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, during a press conference on the socio-economic situation held by the municipal People’s Committee on Thursday.

 Businesses in HCM City require around 63,000 workers in the final months of the year, a 9% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to Cuong, the HCM City labour market is showing positive signs in the year-end months.

Local enterprises need about 63,000 workers for the year-end period, a nine percent rise against the same period in 2023. The demand will mainly concentrate on the fields of retail, trade, logistics, and food processing, including many positions for manual workers and new graduates.

Businesses in HCM City have been asked to soon announce their plans for wage payments, bonuses, and other assistances for their employees on Tet and ensure full and timely payments as scheduled.

The Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs will send two investigation teams to 20 businesses, prioritising those struggling with difficulties or having experienced labour disputes and strikes this year.
