An anonymous source of DanTri/Dtinews said that the Government Inspectorate had completed the investigation on the assets of Quy as well as land management work and building permit issue process to the villa in Minh Tan Ward owned by Quy's wife, Hoang Thi Hue.

The inspectorate concluded that Quy wasn't honest when declaring his assets. The results will be officially announced this August and punishments for Quy will be proposed.

He is younger brother of Yen Bai Province Party Secretary Pham Thi Thanh Tra.

In the declaration, Quy said he owned a 600-square-metre house in Minh Tan Ward and a 130-square-metre apartment at Mandarin Garden. He also owns another 150-square-metre house and a 1,000-square-metre land lot and a 2-hectare farm. According to Quy, the income in 2016 from the farm he inherited from his parents was VND1bn.

However, there are opinions that Quy is much wealthier. Quy said he had some debts that were over VND50m (USD2,200) but disclosed in June that he was borrowing VND20bn in bank loans to build a villa.

Head of Government Inspectorate's Anti-corruption Bureau Pham Trong Dat said, "Yen Bai chairman asked the government inspectorate to help them with this case to make sure that the result is accurate. I think it's a fair decision and those who violate the regulations must take responsibility."
