The anti-flooding project in HCM City is four years behind schedule.
Construction on the project started in 2016 and was slated for completion in 2018. However, to date, the project has faced numerous problems, including refinancing procedures.
In February 2019, the project was resumed and set the target to become operational in the first quarter of 2020. But, it once again missed the deadline.
In April last year, the government demanded the project speed up, but, to date, only 90 percent of the work has been completed.
Work on the sluices of Tan Thuan, Nha Be, and Ben Nghe has been suspended for over two years.
