Eight people died at Hoa Binh General Hospital

"We considered many causes but water may be the most suspicious. However, we can only have the final conclusion after the investigation ends," he said.

Also on the same day, 10 patients in the incident, who were transferred to Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi, were released. They will continue to receive outpatient treatment and have dialysis treatment three times a week at Bach Mai Hospital while Hoa Binh Hospital assesses their health.

A team of 12 specialists from Hoa Binh Department of Health met the morning to try and identify the cause of death of eight patients. The team consists of seven heads of the department's offices, four experts from Bach Mai Hospital and head of Hoa Binh Hospital.

Duong said they were waiting for the results of the investigation before clarifying who was responsible and what punishments would be applied.

On June 7, the police reconstructed the scene and invited experts to check the equipment. Meanwhile, the Agency of Health Examination and Treatment and the Hoa Binh Department of Health agreed to expand the kidney dialysis faculty to serve 100 patients. On June 5, the Ministry of Health gave the approval to give the hospital 10 dialysis machines.

The dialysis incident in Hoa Binh General Hospital killed seven patients in one day. The eighth patient died a few days later as her condition was too critical for a transfer. 10 other patients were transferred to Bach Mai Hospital on May 29. Most of them were nauseous and felt it hard to breathe.

Dao Xuan Co, vice head of the Intensive Care Unit, said the patients' condition had improved and stabilised. 45-year-old Nguyen Van Thieu, who was in the most critical condition, no longer needed non-stop dialysis.
