VND 29-trillion expressway linking Phu Yen and Dak Lak proposed

Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces have proposed the construction of a VND 29 trillion (USD 1.11 billion) expressway to connect the two localities.

Under the recommendation sent to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the project will be carried out between 2025 and 2029 under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The four-lane expressway will be approximately 122 kilometres long and link the eastern section of the North-South Expressway via National Highway 14.

The central government will fund the project’s investment capital.

The National Assembly has approved a 2025 plan to merge Dak Lak and Phu Yen into a single province named Dak Lak, with its political and administrative centre in Dak Lak.

Building the Phu Yen-Dak Lak expressway project before 2030 is crucial and urgent for linking seaports, dry ports, airports, border gates, economic zones, and industrial parks. It will also help to connect North–South and East–West economic corridors, unlocking new development opportunities.

National Highway 29 is currently the main road linking Phu Yen and Dak Lak, but it has narrow lanes, sharp bends, and ageing asphalt that is now in poor condition.
