The country’s longest avenue was open to traffic on October 3rd just in time to join the exciting activities of the 1,000 Anniversary of Hanoi - Thang Long.

Attending the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hailed the Ministry of Transport and the municipal authorities and constructors for their hard works and great contribution over the past five years to complete the avenue.

Stretching 28 kilometres from the Pham Hung - Khuat Duy Tien - Tran Duy Hung Intersection in Hanoi downtown to National Road No.21A-Ho Chi Minh Trail Intersection in Thach That District, Thang Long Avenue is now the longest and the first highway that meets the standard in Vietnam.

With a total investment amounting to over 7.5 trillion VND, Thang Long Avenue is also the country’s first urban highway that was built entirely by local experts and contractors.

The highway, which features 6 lanes running through such districts as Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Quoc Oai and Thach That, is intended to play a significant role in the development of the western area of the capital.
