Hoa, Director of Mechanical Engineering Company in Thai Binh Province, said that despite bad weather and rough seas, the sub operated well.

He said that the mini-submarine successfully passed a two-day test during which it was put through its paces on the surface, underwater and in a crash situation.

Speaking to DtiNews, Hoa said that he was very happy with his mini-submarine and hoped that his invention could contribute to protect the national sovereignty and serve Vietnamese fishermen.

The sub which has been built back in October 2014 is made of steel. It can run within a radius of 400km. It can operate underwater for 3 consecutive days and nights and can carry two crew.

The entrepreneur also said that he and his co-workers also plan to build another mini-submarine soon which is equipped with more modern equipment.
