Vietnam's Covid-19 tally surpasses 1 million

Vietnam confirmed an additional 8,162 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday, raising the total number of patients in the country to 1,000,897, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 8,145 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 56 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,185), Dong Nai (930), Tay Ninh (656), Binh Duong (615), An Giang (595), Tien Giang (417), Kien Giang (399), Dong Thap (352), Bac Lieu (291), Binh Thuan (237), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (185), Ca Mau (181), Dak Lak (162), Vinh Long (159), Hanoi (154), Long An (130), Khanh Hoa (128), Tra Vinh (121), and Binh Phuoc (108). There were 17 imported patients confirmed today.

The new infections showed an increase of 227 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 3,951 infections found in the community.

As of Thursday evening, 995,903 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (443,815), Binh Duong (241,589), Dong Nai (75,843), Long An (36,252), and Tien Giang (19,516).

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,000,897. The country now stands 37th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On November 11, an additional 1,894 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 845,948.

On Thursday evening, a further 84 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 22,849. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (38), Binh Duong (6), Dong Nai (6), Long An (6), An Giang (5), Tien Giang (3), Tay Ninh (3), Kien Giang (3), Bac Lieu (3), Binh Thuan (2), Can Tho (2), Nghe An (1), Binh Dinh (1), Dak Lak (1), Dong Thap (1), Vinh Long (1), Soc Trang (1), and Ben Tre (1).

Vietnam on November 10 administered more than 1.51 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 95.57 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 32.07 million people having received two doses.
