Hiep, 23, has been studying at a business management college in Japan since April 2015.
According to his family, who live in Hanoi, Hiep called them often, using Messenger and Tango. However, they've been unable to contact him since March 31.
The family have contacted with the overseas studying consultancy centre and was told that Hiep had left the collage and went out to work for some time so they were not responsible for him.
"We've also called a relative of the family who is living in Japan and three close friends of Hiep but they all said that they had lost contact with him," the family said. "We’re now very worried about him."
