This event has further confirmed the quality of the litchi from Bac Giang Province. It will also help pave ways to export litchi to Japan and other markets.

In 2020, Bac Giang exported 200 tonnes of litchi into Japan. In 2021, Bac Giang will expand the gardens grown for exports.

Luc Ngan District has over 15,000ha of litchi, most of which are grown in Hong Giang, Tan Son, Quy Son and Giap Son Communes. The gardens have to meet VietGAP or GlobalGAP and other practice standards in order to meet the requirements for export. According to the farmers, all of the trees are growing well and 90% of them have bloomed.

This year, Bac Giang has about 28,000ha of litchi and expected to harvest 160,000 tonnes of litchi. 15,000ha of the gardens met VietGAP and 338ha met the GlobalGAP standards.

The litchi from Bac Giang Province has also been granted geographical indication in many countries including China, Laos, Cambodia, South Korea, Singapore and Australia.
