According to Quy, the prime minister highly regarded the efforts made in the fight against the virus outbreak by all localities authorities and their positive achievements in the past weeks. Vietnam has entered a new phase of the outbreak and still had a golden opportunity to prevent the spread and minimise the death count.
Besides suspending the granting of visas, the prime minister asked the authorities to continue banning large gatherings, including bars and karaoke bars. Vietnam will maintain three types of quarantines including quarantine at military bases, home-isolation for people that have close contact with confirmed patients and group quarantine for foreign experts with official passports.
At the meeting, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced that there will be support policies for those who in the front-line of the fight against the outbreak.
"The health sector has responded that they have many difficulties and the prime minister had asked the steering committee to deal with the issues," Quy said.
City and provincial people's committees are tasked with preparing quarantine areas in case Vietnam receives up to 50,000 to 60,000 people returning from other countries. The Ministry of Health and local departments of health are asked to check the number of people with underlying health conditions and treatment plans to prevent deaths.
