The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) will host the 19th meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties’ (ICAPP) Standing Committee in Hanoi on April 25.
The announcement was made by the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations during an April 24 press conference.
This is the first time the CPV has hosted the event as a member of the ICAPP Standing Committee. Up to 135 delegations are expected to attend, representing the leaders of major Asian political parties, observers, and guests from regional and international organisations.
Hosting the event for the first time demonstrates the CPV’s active participation and responsible contributions to the region’s largest political party organisation.
The CPV was first elected as a member of ICAPP’s Standing Committee at its third plenum in September 2004 and has subsequently been re-elected for each of the succeeding terms.
Established in 2000, ICAPP aims to promote exchange and cooperation between different political parties, deepening mutual understanding and trust between Asian countries for the sake of peace and prosperity in the region and the world.
ICAPP currently has more than 340 members from 53 countries in the region.
