The parade will begin at Ba Dinh Square in front of President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and proceed throughout a number of nearby streets.

The event is designed to highlight the historic importance of the August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, to promote patriotism, national pride and unity as well as celebrate Vietnam’s achievements in the last seven decades.

The August Revolution of 1945 effectively brought an end to colonial rule and the Nguyen Dynasty. Later on September 2 of the same year, President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the independence of Vietnam before an assembly of tens of thousands of people.

Last April, under directions of the Vietnamese Government, a parade was staged in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the 40th anniversary of national reunification.
