According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country exported 700,000 tonnes of rice worth USD362 million in April alone.

Vietnam exported around 1.9 million tonnes of rice worth some USD1 billion between January and April of this year
During the four-month period, white rice accounted for 39.3% of the country’s total export value; followed by Jasmine and fragrant rice with 36.0%. The remainder was Japonica rice and some other varieties.
In the first three months of this year, the Philippines was Vietnam’s biggest rice importer with 411,580 tonnes worth USD219.96 million. The average price of rice for export to the Philippines in the year’s first four months reached USD547.8 million per tonne, up 18.6% on-year.
Vietnam witnessed an on-year sharp rise in rice import value from Australia with 66%. Meanwhile, Mozambique’s rice imports from Vietnam dropped by 53.5% on-year.
For glutinous rice, China was Vietnam’s biggest importer between January and April, followed by Malaysia and the Philippines.
Vietnam is forecasted to maintain the growth in rice export value this year, particularly from the EU as the European Union–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement has taken effect.
