The Ministry of Health on Thursday afternoon confirmed that the latest case was a 50-year-old man in Son Loi Commune.

The man is the father of a 23-year-old female worker Nguyen Thi Du who was discharged from hospital on February 10 after recovering from the virus.

Du lived in the same house with her father since she returned from a training course in China's Wuhan City on January 17 until she was hospitalised on January 25.

The father was also quarantined and his health was stable until February 11 when he felt tired. And he then tested positive for the virus.

Earlier, the worker had also transmitted the virus to her mother, younger sister, aunt, and a neighbour.

And the worker's mother then transmitted the virus to her three-month-old granddaughter.

This is the 16th coronavirus infection case in Vietnam and the 11th in Vinh Phuc Province.

Local authorities have isolated Son Loi Commune since February 13 to prevent the spreading of the virus.
