According to the ministry's report, 2,924 of the newly-confirmed patients are locally-transmitted cases 2,509 of whom were detected in quarantine sites or areas under lockdown in some localities including 2,229 in Ho Chi Minh City, 133 in Dong Thap, 118 in Dong Nai, 115 in Tien Giang, 73 in Binh Duong, 46 in Ben Tre, 44 in Khanh Hoa, 32 in Phu Yen, 19 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, 17 in Vinh Long, 15 in Danang, 13 in Soc Trang, 11 in Kien Giang, nine in Binh Thuan, eight in Can Tho, five in Hanoi, four in Ninh Thuan, four in Tay Ninh, four in Nghe An, four in Quang Ngai, three in Hue, three in Bac Ninh, three in Bac Giang, two in An Giang, two in Tra Vinh, and one each in Binh Dinh, Vinh Phuc, Lao Cai, Lam Dong, Ha Tinh, Ca Mau, Lang Son, and Binh Phuoc.

Ho Chi Minh City continued to report the highest number of new infections in the country. On Tuesday, the city also recorded 1,797 new patients, the majority of which are individuals who came into contact with confirmed Covid-19 patients or who were detected in either isolation and locked down areas. The city has imposed social distancing measures in 15 days starting from July 9 in an effort to prevent the virus spread.

As of Wednesday evening, 33,909 locally-transmitted cases have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country on April 27, including 18,802 in the virus hotspot of Ho Chi Minh City. The outbreak has so far spread to 58 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 37,434 including 35,479 locally-transmitted cases.

As of 6 pm on July 14, a total of 9,624 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far there have been 133 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

By the end of July 13, Vietnam has conducted over 4.07 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine. More than 283,000 people have received two doses of the vaccine.
