Vietnam records 82 new Covid-19 cases in Hai Duong, Quang Ninh

Vietnam reported 82 more Covid-19 cases in the northern provinces of Hai Duong and Quang Ninh on Thursday after two locally-infected cases were confirmed on Wednesday.

Of the figure, 72 were found in Hai Duong following the Covid-19 tests for 190 people, according to Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, head of the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, at an urgent meeting between the committee with permanent Government members on Thursday morning.

The fresh cases in Hai Duong were related to a woman who tested positive for the new and more contagious variant of SARS-CoV-2 upon arrival in Osaka, Japan.

Meanwhile, the remaining 10 cases were detected in Quang Ninh Province after a local man who works at Van Don International Airport had tested positive for the virus. Among the patients, one is the man’s mother, while the others are his colleagues from the airport.

On late January 27, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health announced two more locally-infected Covid-19 infections in Hai Duong and Quang Ninh provinces.

At the meeting, Dam urged localities, particularly Quang Ninh and Hai Duong, as well as concerned agencies to take drastic measures for disease prevention and control.
