Vietnam opens embassy in Norway

The Vietnamese embassy in Norway will be inaugurated during the Norway visit of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai from June 12-16.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Nguyen Phuong Nga said on June 10 that the Vietnamese embassy in Norway will be inaugurated during the Norway visit of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai from June 12-16.

This will raise the number of Vietnamese representative missions in foreign countries to 89.

During his visit to Norway, Mr Hai will attend a roundtable on economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and meet with some major Norwegian economic groups before visiting the European Commission in Belgium.

Ms Phuong Nga also announced to the press that the 43rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference, and the 17th ASEAN Regional Forum will take place in Hanoi from July 19-23. The ASEAN Senior Official Meeting will be held on July 17-18. These meetings will focus on topics such as implementing the ASEAN Charter, building the ASEAN community, and strengthening the ties between ASEAN and its partners.

Ms Nga said the Cooperation Forum for the West-East Economic Corridor will meet in Quang Tri province on June 26 to highlight the role of this corridor and propose solutions to accelerate the development of economy, trade and tourism. Taking part in the event will be representatives of ministries and localities of Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, as well as the Asian Development Bank and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
